A Few Brothers Have Spoken.

You answered five brief questions in a survey last month. Here is what you said:

  • The friends I made while living in the house that are still my best friends today.

  • Sense of brotherhood and solidarity
  • Band party music with other brothers, but there were about 100 great memories behind that one.
  • Pub Nights
  • The closeness among the brothers.
  • Independence
  • The camaraderie while doing stuff together.
  • Chapter House on Delaware

What are the top 3 things you gained from your Lambda Chi Alpha experience?

  • Working with people to get a common cause done. Being a brother to others.
  • 1) Lifelong friends 2) A college experience I'll never forget 3) How to problem solve as a group
  • Exposure to new experiences and people. New traditions and responsibilities.
  • Sense of community, Long term friends, Learning to live with a diverse group of men
  • Learning from others, sharing of experiences and teamwork
  • Lasting friendships. Assistance form other brothers later in life's chaos. Understanding of hard work makes life easy.
  • Friendship, Work ethic, Time Management
  • 1. Independence, we were completely on our own - off-campus. 2. responsibility, we owned the chapter house, not Lehigh, and we were responsible for its operation and maintenance. 3. Comradery, If you needed help there was always someone to come to our aid.
  • Working in a group, Management, Friendships
  • Brotherhood, Leadership, Cooperation
  • Loyalty, Friendships, Brotherhood

How would your life be different today if you had never joined Lambda Chi Alpha?

  • College would have been far more lonely, quiet and less socially fun.
  • I wouldn't be the same person.
  • I would have missed out on friendships.
  • Would not have the core group of friends I currently have
  • Would have never met some people who have had an impact on my life
  • Would not have met my future wife.
  • The Lambda Chi experience created a can-do attitude that has served me well.
  • Different friends, Less confidence, Lesser memories

  • I am an avid historical reenactor of the American Revolution, have been unemployed for 9 months due to a restructuring at work and have been living very happily with a lady for the last 9 years.
  • Susie and I live in Chandler, AZ. We volunteer at a local school and hospital with our therapy dog. I'm retired from a turnaround management career. We have a daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. We're looking forward to the Speakmans' reunion.
  • Have a 2 1/2-year-old son named Jack and a baby girl expected in September with my wife Kara (also went to Lehigh - AXO). Currently, live in Nashville after moving from NYC
  • Live directly across Lehigh's Athletic fields which I can still run but at a conservative pace.
  • Still living in Fairbanks, Alaska glad to have Lehigh people visit.
  • Married 59 years this year. 4 successful children. Retired

As an alumni association, we strive to keep you connected with the Gamma-Psi chapter long after graduation. What could we do to encourage you to become more active in the association? Perhaps by hosting more fun events? Any other advice?

  • Creating a job board for unemployed members and having fun local events.
  • Gamma Psi's demise puts a damper on this.
  • Sends stories, pictures, etc so we can live vicariously through you all
  • Yes, some type of alumni social event would be great. Now it's limited to once every other year for a Lehigh Lafayette tailgate
  • Gamma-Psi get-togethers at home football games. Sponsor a date, time to meet at the LU flagpole on a summer Saturday.
  • Alumni Get-Togethers around Lehigh/Lafayette Football Game
  • Aid to the extent you can, in the recolonization of the Gamma Psi chapter.
  • Attended a great LCA reunion this month at home of Don & Trish Speakman on the Eastern Shore, Maryland. Hope future reunions will be attended for Classes '59 +

Thank you for sharing your memories and your opinions. Your words mean something to us, brothers. We have heard you and will act on your advice.
